Country Profile Sheet
Overall Germany
Germany is a country Europe that is fully surrounded by other countries. This country is considedered to be a More Developed Country because of how long it has been established and how far it has progeressed in the Demographic Transition Model. This country is on par with other couontries within Europe, because they are all around stage 4 to 5, meaning that they have a low to declining Natural Increase Rate, meaning that there is none, or very few people being natively born withing the country.
Population
Germany's Population has been slowly decreasing since 2005, from 82 million to predicted to be 79 million, as a result of the country nearing the stage 5 of the Demographic Transition Model. Along with their decreasing population, their is a decrasing growth rate, and it is becoming evermore negative, which causes the population to decrease, which proves the reason to why this country is considered to be in stage 5 of the DTM.
Fertility
Germany is struggling to sustain its population, and its overall fertility is also a part of the problem. There are some numerical figures that are odd, given the DTM, such as the total fertility rate has been recently increasing because of unkown reasons. This could be a savior if this continues to increase dramatically. The crude birth rate has been very low and hasn't increased at all, meanng there isn't any more babies being born into the country, and it isn't expected to change within the next 10 years. But there have been a lower amount of births occuring, and it retains the same crude birth rate because there is less population.
Mortality
There has been an increase in the life expectancy of the children, but its only an increase of 5 years from 76 to 81 in 1995 - 2015. Since 1995, the infant mortality rate has decreased from 5 to 3 in about 20 years. Along with decreasing infant mortality rate, there has been a decrease in the mortality of children under 5 to 4 from 7 in 1995. The crude birth rate isn't on par with the other rates, but it started out as 11, and went down to 10, but then back up to 12 and is predicted to rise more later. The overall deaths of the country have steadily increased from 1995 and continuing to be up to 1 million in 2025.
Migration
Migration to Germany has been a little different every 10 years. In 1995, they had 5 percent immigrants per 1000 population, then it decreased to 1 percent for 2005 and 2015, and then it is expected to rise back up to 2 percent in 2025. The number of migrants has also changed somewhat similarly to the percentage amount. In 1995, there was almost 400,000 immigrants, but that then decreased to below 100,000 in 2005. The number then increased to 100,000 and then is expected to increase to 120,000 in 2025.
